Founded by Jennifer Ferguson and three women in Portland, Oregon, Handful began with a simple mission: to create a better bra. Today, it’s a full line of top-rated sports bras, loved by a global community of passionate women.
Available online and in stores nationwide, Handful is a female-owned brand that celebrates women of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. Their design philosophy, the "Handful High Five," focuses on five key values: Fashion, Function, Feel, Fun, and FIGHT—representing their commitment to breast cancer survivors and advocacy.
Meet our founder
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but it was Montanan Founder and CEO Jennifer Ferguson who turned that necessity into the Original Handful Bra in 2006. A busy mom and fitness instructor, Jennifer couldn’t find a bra that could keep up with her active lifestyle—so she created one. Handful became her third "child," named after her father’s nickname for her: “She’s a handful.”
Starting a business from scratch wasn’t easy, but Jennifer didn’t go it alone. She teamed up with three brilliant women—Tina Thede, Jody Filkins, and Cary Kim—who shared her passion and drive. Together, they’ve built Handful into a brand that empowers women to "Grab Life by the Handful™."
