Be YOUtiful - A self-love and acceptance movement

on September 22, 2017

On October 18th, Handful & Momentum are joining forces to recognize National ‘Love Your Body Day’ in a unique & visually powerful way. We’d love for you to join us!

BE YOUtiful is our effort to join with others in a self-love and acceptance movement to re-define beauty. Our hope is to create a supportive community that inspires others to live more active and healthy lives, with the goal of working towards a best version of THEMSELVES.

With BE YOUtiful we aim to…

RECLAIM the beauty and power that is YOU. It’s about recognizing your own gifts, beauty, and strength – letting your own unique light shine. Because it’s through this that we can live up to our own potential, follow our dreams, and have the greatest impact on the world and the people around us.

PUSH BACK against a world that compares, that passes value judgements, and measures our every detail against some “ideal” standard.

WORK TOGETHER to create a supportive community that encourages those around us to recognize and value their own unique beauty. Let’s help to educate each other on what healthy is and how it can look different on different people. Let’s work to support and empower each other by reminding each other that every body is beautiful.

CELEBRATE all body types as well as all types and levels of activity. We think that progress should be measured on an individual basis – we ALL need to strive to improve ourselves (in every aspect of our lives – school or work, physical fitness, and in our relationships), but what it looks like will be different for each one of us.

SHOW that when we are authentic and true to ourselves, we are beautiful. We are powerful. And we are enough.

To support our campaign we are offering 20% off ANY STYLE bra or tank in these 3 colors: Out of the Blue, Pinky Swear and Booya Black. Just use Coupon Code BeYOUtiful at check-out!

Please join us on October 18th, 2017 by posting a #BeYOUtiful photo to your Instagram and/or Facebook.

Create change by starting a conversation about self- love & acceptance.

HI Beth – I’m posting the same response that I sent to you in email this morning.

I’m so sorry that you find Handful to not walk the talk and are disappointed in what we offer. I’d like to let you know we are in the process of designing the next size from XL to a 2XL for our customers – as we do know this and we want to be an option for ladies like yourself. We are a small, all women company and have only released things over time. We don’t have resources large companies have to get to market as fast as we’d like to. I can certainly appreciate your position – and we’re doing the best we can.

If you knew more about us, you would also know that we do celebrate ALL women. All shapes and sizes. Beauty comes in a wide variety of packages. I’m so sorry you are clearly upset and angered by the campaign – it is not what the intent of the campaign is at all. I have a couple friends who also need a size bigger than XL in Handful. They are still participating in the campaign with the Momentum wrap and wearing a shirt with the sign – no one needs to know what is underneath it (Handful or otherwise). I’d encourage you to participate.

I find this fairly ironic as you want us to “push back against a world that compares, that passes value judgements, and measures our every detail against some “ideal” standard.” & “CELEBRATE all body types as well as all types and levels of activity. We think that progress should be measured on an individual basis – we ALL need to strive to improve ourselves (in every aspect of our lives – school or work, physical fitness, and in our relationships), but what it looks like will be different for each one of us.”
AND YET you don’t carry larger (actual real life larger) sizes. I am 5’ 10" and have a 52" chest – don’t see that covered there – Way to “celebrate differences”. I am so sick of this kind of lip service when you don’t actually offer options for women that are really and truly “different” than the norm. Why don’t you actually be bold and offer truly larger sizes? When you can do that – then I’ll believe you actually subscribe to ideals you pretend to.
